Purple Lace Cupcakes

I recently had the pleasure of spending a few months working with a wonderful bride on a fun alternative to a wedding cake - a beautiful cupcake tower with a small cake for their cutting ceremony.
She wanted purple frosting with silver dragees of various sizes on her cupcakes, with silver papers and a delicate, white, shimmery cupcake wrapper around each one.
The cake on the top was covered with marshmallow fondant and sprayed with food coloring until it was a nice shimmery silver (to match the cupcake papers). I used royal icing on top of the fondant in a technique called "Brush Embroidery" to create the flower pattern on top.
She also wanted peonies and small purple flowers in place of a topper. I created the flowers out of gum paste and floral wire over a week before to make sure they had enough time to dry.

Overall it was a stunning display and it really had some major impact when placed in such a gorgeous venue.

I had such a wonderful time working with this bride and feel so privileged to be part of her special day! <3 Congratulations to the newlyweds!
